U12 Recreation Rules

Sides:
-9v9. 8 field players, with a goalkeeper. Minimum of 7v7 to start and finish the game.

Ball:
-Size 4 soccer ball tightly inflated - Home team provides ball.

Game Length:
-2 halves of 30 minutes - 10 minute halftime break

Officials:
-Two or three man referee system will be provided. All calls briefly explained to offending player.

Substitutions:
-Substitutes need to report to the half line before recognized to be subbed. No subbing from the bench. (All players should play at least a half)

Equipment:
- Shin guards are required. Socks are over top the shin guards. Cleats required.
-Jewelry not permitted.

Goalkeepers:
-Coaches will play a minimum of 2 goalkeepers per game. No goalkeeper can exceed 30 minutes of play in U12.
-Goalkeepers are allowed to punt the ball in this age group, but are encouraged to roll (bowl) or pass (feet) the ball out. 

Age Specific Rules:
-Throw ins are taken.
-Offside calls are made.
-Teams switch sides after halftime.
-No heading in this age group. Heading in this age group would result in an indirect kick.
-Players do NOT need to backup to the mid line any longer in U12.
