GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • No scores or standings will be kept, as this is a developmental age and play is for instruction and fun only.
  • Substitutions are to be made between quarters only unless injury or illness occurs.
  • All players are to play both offensive and defensive positions.

GAME PLAYING GUIDELINES

  • There are NO GOALIES used in this league.  Defense tactics may be introduced to the children, but no player should be stationed at or around the goal area for defending purposes only.  Children are encouraged to play with the movement of the ball.
  • There are NO REFEREES.  One coach from each team is allowed on the field.  Coaches are never allowed to physically interfere with play on the field, but coaches should verbally encourage proper techniques and strategy.
  • NO SLIDE TACKLING, AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR, PUSHING OR ELBOWING.
  • Coaches should encourage, and enforce, positive and fair play.  A coach should substitute a child and give the child a chance to calm down should the need arise.
  • GAME STARTS with a kick-off.  The team kicking off should be on their side of the center line, and the kicker should try to pass to a teammate.  Encourage the kicker not to kick it again until a teammate or the opposing team has kicked the ball.  At kick- off, the opposing team should be outside and around the circle on the center line.  Kick- offs occur at the start of each quarter and alternate teams each time.  Whenever a goal is scored, the team who has been scored upon kicks off.
  • When the whole circumference of the ball is kicked, or rolls out of the field of play, on the sides, the team that did not kick the ball out does a throw- in from where the ball rolled out.  When the ball goes out over the end line, the opposing team does a throw- in from the sideline coming away from the end line and away from the corner.  There is no such thing as a corner throw-in.  There are NO CORNER KICKS
  • PROPER THROW-IN:  A proper throw occurs when a child has both hands on the ball, and brings the ball behind and over their head.  The child’s feet should be behind the outside line of the field, and the feet should stay on the ground when throwing the ball.  If an improper throw occurs, the child should be taught the correct form and allowed to throw again.
