The Piedmont Youth Soccer League is excited to announce the new Piedmont Youth Academy (PYA) Director, Jeff Lochie.
Lochie is also the new Head Soccer Coach for Carlisle's Men's Soccer Team and also their Physical Education Teacher.
He is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro, where he was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Spartan soccer team, leading them to a #1 National Ranking and the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. He has played professionally with the Wilmington Hammerheads and has coached at every level from youth to college soccer.
Most recently Jeff served as the Director of the Triangle United Youth Development Association, and he currently plays for Gate City FC in the National Premier Soccer League.
Jeff's response when asked what his plans and hopes are for the PYA Program:
"To continue what Coach Crehan has started at PYSL, which is the attitude to play soccer the right way and to put the work in. Bringing in coaches who can relate to the players and give them the tools to become better soccer players. My hope is to put PYA on the map as a place where young soccer players are developing the skills necessary to compete at the highest levels. Coaches who work with the younger children need to be able to instill a passion for the game of soccer into these youngsters, and I feel I bring the right skill set for helping the game grow more in the area by developing younger players. By providing an environment that stresses technique of the skill, these kids should be comfortable with the ball at their feet."
"Soccer has always been part of my life. I hope to bring the love of the game to the area and help the players prepare for the next level. Starting early is vital in developing the right techniques in soccer, and hopefully more children in the area will start to get involved at younger ages. Local grown players should have the means to a proper learning environment, and I want to help provide this environment. Hopefully I can bring the same spark that Coach Crehan has brought to the area and work with him to increase the amount of soccer players in the area who can go on to higher levels. "
PYSL Director of Coaching Enda Crehan on Lochie's role:
"To continue the growth of the Academy and keep implementing small sided games and skills as this is so important at the grass roots level in their development as players."
"The PYA has grown many of our young travel teams since starting the program when I arrived at PYSL almost 5 years ago. I believe having a guy like Jeff who has experience will truly benefit our grass roots academy program and I am very excited to work with him and he is a massive boost to this program and our club."
