PYSL Referee Information

PYSL values our game referees and realizes their importance to the game.  Without our referees our soccer programs simply would not exist.  PYSL encourages all of our parents, coaches and volunteers to be supportive of referees at all times, and to acknowledge their importance to the game.  Please join us in supporting our PYSL referees.

PYSL pays our referees depending on the level of difficulty of the game. This is a great way for high school age children to make money during year.

Becoming a Referee

If you are interested in becoming a PYSL referee, please contact our referee liaison John Puckett, soccer@pyslsoccer.net.  To become a fully qualified referee the classes are only held between December of the previous year and February of the current year. Classes are not normally held in Martinsville so travel is required to go to Danville, Lynchburg or Ronaoke. Our RECREATION league does not require qualified referees, however PYSL will require a pre-season class to learn the rules of soccer.
